The best Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Abruzzo | Print |
Have you ever had a fresh squeezed olive oil?
Well, it’s something special. During our trips discovering Abruzzo, we were dining at a restaurant and for an appetizer we had a bruschetta. The hot grilled bread, covered with ripe tomatoes, garlic and basil tasted wonderful. All the ingredients hit the spot. The bread was nice and crunchy, the tomatoes tasted like tomatoes and the olive oil just blended all the flavors together.

We were so amazed on the fragrance of this oil that we looked at the label and we went searching for the Olive press where this wonderful product was made. Lucky for us, it was very close. It was located just off Vasto Marina (our restaurant was in Vasto and the food there was outstanding, but that is another story).
Giovanni, one of the owners, greeted us and showed us their line of olive oils. We did some sampling and we then purchased a few bottles at wholesale price.

They have a huge variety of olive oils, made with different olives:
-    Nebbio, which is made out of centennial trees (about 300 years old)
-    They have a local DOP olive oil from the hills of Vasto
-    I-77 is an oil that has won a slow food award, called the three olives

All of them are outstanding olive oils, but the best or better, our favorite one was definitely the lemon infused olive oil, perfect for grilled fish and green salads.

We wanted to share this good feeling with everybody.
