Fraine is located near the two rivers Treste and Lama, near breathtaking view. This town was erected in the medieval times. Like the rest of many of these little hamlets, the church is built at the highest point and the rest of the houses were built below that.
HISTORICAL FACTS
This hamlet was ruled by many noble families, but the Caracciolo was the one that had the most influence, in Fraine and the rest of the neighbouring towns, such as San Buono, Carunchio, Torrebruna and Celenza.
Documents from the Chieti clergy from the year 1323, Fraine was mentioned and separated by Fraine superiore and inferiore (upper and lower Fraine). Lower Fraine was known as Frainelle.
