We have received many e-mails from our readers showing their frustration on how impossible it is to obtain a document from the local city hall. Many foreigners with Abruzzese descent need documents like birth certificates or death certificates to reconstruct their family tree or to obtain dual citizenship.

To help with this, we have decided for the first and only time to offer a paid service.
Unfortunately the clerks at city halls don’t usually speak English, plus they often act as if they feel it goes beyond their basic duty to help foreigners find documents. Many city halls don’t have old data classified, so in case you would want to find a document that is older than 1932, you probably have to search it yourself in middle of thousands of other hand written documents not filed in any chronological or alphabetical order.
Most of the city halls also require to be there personally requesting the document. They will not fax or ship any document. Many times, you have to search for it by yourself because the clerk “does not have time for it”.
