trivento cattedrale.jpgThe ancient Terventum stands on a hill overlooking the Trigno. This town was a Pentri settlement and later a Roman municipium. Present day Trivento has a characteristic old town accessed by a panoramic flight of 200 steps. The town is home to the Cathedral of SS. Nazario, Celso and Vittore, rebuilt several times in the Middle Ages. Local tradition has it that it was built on the site of an earlier temple dedicated to Diana.
