HISTORICAL INFORMATION:
The name of this town comes from the last name of the lords who ruled it during feudal times, i.e. Borrello. Its roots go back to pre-Roman times, but it was first mentioned in history in the 11th century. This is not the typical medieval town, as much of it was destroyed and rebuilt time and time again with each battle fought there. Even during WWII, the town was heavily damaged. Some ruins of the palace and the castle can still be visited but they are in bad shape.
