This event is still celebrated as the Festa dei Bandaresi. This surrounding land is very fertile and thus filled with olive groves and vineyards.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION:
Bucchianico was first started as a Benedictine monastery which belonged to the Saint Liberatore a Majella monastery. In feudal times, it passed through the hands of many families, including the D'Alagno, De Riccardis, Piccinino, D'Alviano, and finally fell into the hands of the Caracciolo. This town is also famous because it is the birthplace of Camillo de Lellis, who was the founder of an Order of Regular Clerics, who ran a ministry for all ill and wounded people. In fact, there are many hospitals all over Italy that are named for this saint, as this particular Order of monks used their medical skills to cure the ill.
