POPULATION 1050 ELEVATION 555 mt By the slopes of the Simbruini mountains, Canistro is also known for the neighboring spring which produces mineral water. HISTORICAL FACTS Another example of an Abruzzese town with medieval origins. Noted for its mineral water, immersed in the greeness of nature in the high valley of Roveto, the medieval hamlet still has a building that declares "fortification" in the 11th and 12th centuries, dictating the laws concerning agriculture and sheepherding. WHAT TO SEE The church of San Sebastiano merits particular attention, as does the Vecchiarelli palace which dates back the 18th century and the church of San Giovanni Battista.
