A few kilometers from the border with Lazio this town has rapidly changed its own economy from its dependence on agriculture in the past as today it is well-rooted to the small business and arts and craft industries.
The surrounding area is interesting above all else for the innumerable woods and for the grottoes.





HISTORICAL FACTS
Carsoli has very ancient origins and also due to is relative vicinity to the capital it was known in the time of the Romans as Carseolis.
The town had a vibrant economy and growing population in the medieval period because of its strategic position.
It was a fief among the famous noble families of the Orsini and Colonna who were not from the area.

WHAT TO SEE
Church of Santa Vittoria, built in the 16th century with stone altars and a fantastic 17th century paintings.
Church of Santa Maria in Cellis, built in the 12th century with an imposing belltower that has double and triple lancet windows.
The portal was influenced by Benedictine architecture.
