WHAT TO SEEThe top spots to be seen are for sure the San Giovanni in Venere abbey, one of the most important Abbey in Abruzzo. It is located on top of a small hill, with a wonderful view of the gulf and the Majella massif. The church was founded in the VIII century and it faced many architectural changes through the years. From gothic style to Cistercian style. The portal was changed in the 1200s, the facades were modified more than once and the rear of the church was the last part changed. It is certainly a majestic church. Other spots to visit are the 5 spout fountain, the noble palaces Contini and Mayer. The trabocchi (fishing houses)are the special turistic attractions of the area, together with the wonderful free beaches with the Crystal clear waters.
