The town is located in the center of the Roveto valley. The town is part of the Natural reserve Zompo lo Schioppo. The town has been rebuilt in the vicities since the big earthquake in the 1915, right before the first world war. This area has always been sismic. You can still spot the ruins of the old town on top of a hill. Here



HISTORICAL FACTS
This was a really old hamlet, old as much as the Roman Empire. As a matter of fact, some ruins found in the vicinities, can signify that.

WHAT TO SEE
-    Natural Reserve Zompo Lo Schioppo
-    Waterfall Lo Schioppo, 250 feet high
-    Nun’s Waterfall (Cascata delle Monache)
-    Vegetation in the park, with over 300 hundred different plants and a unique variety of oak.
-    Il Farnetto area, with 30 varieties of wild orchids and the Aquilegia, which is a wild mountain flower that exists only on this location
-    Birds watching at the reserve: Cuculo and Merlo acquaiolo. Also to be found unique owls, woodpeckers and falcons.
-    Appenines Wolves and Marsican black bears.
