HISTORICAL FACTS
The name comes from the ancient Vestini (a local tribe, like the Italics or the Samnites) settlement in the surroundings, which was called Aufinum. Near the Capestrano plateau, you can spot transhumance shepherd’s trail, because the village was located along the tratturo (shepherd’s path) L’Aquila- Foggia, covered by the pilgrimage of shepherds and their sheep flock on the road to reach the Puglia region.
