ELEVATION 1000 meters POPULATION 950 The town is located in the Eastern side of the National Park, in the Parasano Mountains. Some of the fractions of the town are: Aschi Alto, Carrito, Cesoli, Casali Santa Maria Maddalena, Castiglione, Rivoli, Villa Santa Maria. HISTORICAL FACTS The ancient origins go way back to the Italic age, when it was an important town under the dominance of the Marsican tribe. The original name was Milonia. On the ruins of the Italic settlement, an important strategic post was constructed during the Middle Ages. The reason to build such a huge structure was to control the pathway between the Fucino and Sagittario river valley. The first time the village was mentioned was in 12th century. Towards the end of the 18th century, it turned to be the feud of the Massimi family. WHAT TO SEE - Parish church with a façade of the 14th century is characterized by the ancient decorated rosette and a pulpit of the 17th century.
