Typical vacation village in the mountains of l’Aquila and the Sangro valley. Favorite spot for Italians, Germans and British. Immersed in the green and ideal for those who like to walk, hike, do animal watching such as bears, wolves and chamois.


HISTORICAL FACTS
The town was founded by the Italics and the Peligni. The orginal name was Pesculum Seroli.
The town was also known for being the birth place for a famous Italian philosopher named Benedetto Croce.

WHAT TO SEE
-    Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo, baroque furniture and a wooden Madonna Incoronata statue
-    Castel Mancino, a strategic fortress built in the 12th century
-    Carmine church founded in 1729  by the Gentile family
-    Palazzo Sipari, an 18th century aristocratic mansion located in piazza Benedetto Croce. Described “simple but impressive” with 3 floors around the central court.
-    Civic Museum of Folk Traditions
-    Abruzzo National Park Visiting center
-    Sanctuary of Madonna del Carmine
