On the southern borders of the Peligna Valley, Pettorano sul Gizio still looks like a medieval village. Fractions or quarters of the town are: Vallelarga, Case Albanese, Cavate, Chiuse, Conca, Mastroiacovo, Ponte D'Arce, San Martino, Vallepescara, Vallone, San Pietro
HISTORICAL FACTS
During the Middle Ages, when village became in comand of the entire valley, was known with the name of Pagus Fabianus, on the Gizio river banks, whose rich waters quoted by Ovidio as "gelidus uberrimus undis" gave health and wellness to its inhabitants, who could exploit them for the spinners, weavers, mills and oil-mills. It was at first a feud of the Cantelmo family, then became a property of Tocco di Montemiletto from the 15th to the 17th century.

- Cantelmo castle
- Church of San Dionisio, mother church rebuilt in the 18th century
- Piazza Rosario Zannelli, wonderful looking square with a fountain of the 15th century
- Palazzo de Stephanis, with a splendid Baroque façade
