Tufillo is a beautiful little hilltop town in the hills of the comunità Montana, near Vasto (30 kms). The view from the town allows you to observe the Matese hills, Majella mountain, the Tremiti islands and the Gargano.

HISTORICAL FACTS
Old Tufillo was built on the Mount Farano but the legend says that very large ants forced the people to move out and rebuild the city in the lower part of the hill. The actual town was built on a rocky cliff in the 12th century and it still preserves original parts. Recent archaeological findings (ceramics and a pavement) demonstrate that there was some kind of social life back in the 7th century before Christ.  On the same spot, a bronze key was found from the 7th  century before Christ and now it is preserved in the Archaeological museum of Chieti. That key is now the symbol of Tufillo.tufillo chiave.jpg
